Old Hospital Building Compared To New Rainy River Health Centre Building

In the old building there was no air exchange to bring fresh air in, and only one exhaust fan that didn’t work. The hospital now has a very modern air exchange that the maintenance man controls. There are nine exhaust fans. They are also able to control heat in all rooms of the building. In the old building they had very little control of the heat. The building has up to date hot water valves so no one can burn themselves. The new building has a big generator that can run the whole building in a power out age. In the old building the generator could only run a little bit of the building.

Security and Fire Alarm

The only security they had in the old hospital was to lock all the doors by hand. In the new building all the doors have magnet locks which can be locked with one switch. To get in and out of the building you have to push a code into the key pad.

They now have an amazing fire alarm system! There are over 300 heat and smoke detectors and many pull stations. The old building's fire alarm system had about 10 smoke and heat detectors and about 3 or 4 pull stations.
