The Alexandra School

The Alexandra school was the first public school in Rainy River. It was named Alexandra in honour of the British Queen consort of King Edward VII.The Alexandra School was built in 1904 - 1905. There was no plumbing. Atwood chidren didn't attended the Alexandra School until 1906. In September, 1906 a new building belonging to Atwood Number 12 was opened for students West and North of the town. In 1947 amalgamation of the town and neighbouring schools into one central school was planned by the school boards.

Riverview Public School was built in 1971. The first staff at Riverview School were Mr. Howard Smith, Mr. Larry Armstrong (Kaitlyn's Grandfather), Mrs. Susan Brawley, Mr. Garry Gamsby, Mrs. Elsie Gerula (Kathryn's Grandmother), Mrs. Margaret Jackson, Miss Judy Johnson, Mrs. Iris McQuaker, Mrs. Clara Marr, Mr Lewis Nicholson(Kaitlyn's Uncle)Mr. Robert Osadchuk and Mrs. Gayleen Szlouko.
