COMMUNITY'S ROLE IN EDUCATION

Past: One Room School ( 100 years ago)

Community people would have a school raising bee to build a new school.

People in the community donated materials to build the school.

Someone would donate a box stove and donate wood so the school would be warm.

There were many small schools throughout the area because children had to walk to school.

Schools were often at the end of a road or path.

Present Day School ( today 2004 )

We hire contractors to build our new schools now.

The contractors bring and buy everything they need .

The government pays for the cost of the school with our tax money.

We heat our school now and they are bigger because children are bused to school.

Schools are usually in town or built on a designated land site.
