COMMUNITY'S ROLE IN EDUCATION
|
Past: One Room School ( 100 years ago)
• Community people would have a school raising bee to build a new school. • People in the community donated materials to build the school. • Someone would donate a box stove and donate wood so the school would be warm. • There were many small schools throughout the area because children had to walk to school. • Schools were often at the end of a road or path. |
Present Day School ( today 2004 )
• We hire contractors to build our new schools now. • The contractors bring and buy everything they need . • The government pays for the cost of the school with our tax money. • We heat our school now and they are bigger because children are bused to school. • Schools are usually in town or built on a designated land site. |
